RUBRICS
You live your life guided by certain values and principles, either self-selected or imposed by society or law. At the Michael Polanyi College we realized that to build a culutre of Self-Reliant learners we need some rules. But the beauty of being an MPC Pioneer is that we make our own rules. We govern ourselves through commitment and holding each other accountable.
Since Pioneering is something I do full time, I (and the rest of the MPC Pioneers) have rubrics for every aspect of my life. Here they are:

Dialogue Rubrics
I still insist on the "Use technology wisely" Rubric (which we haven't).
- One person speaks at a time
- Come prepared to the dialogue (bring questions)
- Make a nice circle
- Active listening
- Think before you speak
- Keep your interventions short
- Appreciate silence
- Remain open and have intellectual humility
- State your assumptions
- Present your arguments systematically
- What exactly are you disagreeing with?
- Stay on topic (as much as you can)
- Bring only your text and something to take notes with (both ideally on paper)
- Seek to understand the author
- Keen observation and make eye contact
- Be honest
- Embrace humor
- Call for a pause or a stretch
- Add to the rubric when there's a suggestion
- Apply the Rubrics
